Day Tour of the Wild Atlantic Way Heritage scenery and hospitality

Wild Atlantic Way day tour of Loophead County Clare. What a great day with the Wilson siblings from Detroit on the Loophead peninsula. Though there were many special moments throughout the day the stop off of the Church of the Little Ark was the main highlight. The church has an abundance of history that span over the past two hundred years. We travelled along the Atlantic coast stopping at the church and onto Kilbaha were we had the most delicious Irish Coffee made by Helen at Keatings. The Wilsons were sure it was the best Irish Coffee that they ever had! Unfortunately, I could not participate. Next time I will have to prove their theory correct. It’s all in Kilbaha, heritage, scenery and hospitality.

Closest Bar to New York

From Keatings not alone did we have the most beautiful blue sky but the Wilson siblings were able to see across the Shannon to Kilimer were there ancestors came from. That was a special moment. We continued our journey to the Lighthouse with a stop at Kilbaha Gallery to see Ailish and Liz and then to the lighthouse. Before we knew it, it was 5pm and time to go back to the hotel, just not enough hours in the day. We drove back to Doonbeg via the Shannon Estuary taking in the sights of the north coast of Kerry.

Patricia is definitely coming back to do more research in Killimer, County Clare and surrounding areas for her family tree. We hope to visit her ancestral area and maybe even find some long lost relatives. We look forward to putting together a great itinerary for the whole family if not in 2016, definitely in 2017. Lots of planning and organizing to do. Looking forward to it already.
